Born from a refusal to walk away.
Youth Hope for Tomorrow began with one conviction — that no young person, in Burundi or anywhere, should face their hardest years alone.

Our Founders' Story
Ismael Bigirimana & Anitha Nishimwe
Ismael Bigirimana, our Legal Representative, and his wife Anitha Nishimwe, Deputy Legal Representative, founded YHT out of a deep conviction: that the unconditional love of Christ can change a generation. Parents to two children, they are passionate about extending hope to millions of young people and families — across Burundi and around the world.
Stand with us“We do not promise an easy road. We promise that no one walks it alone.”
— Our founding conviction
Early days, real steps.
We are honest about where we are: at the beginning. Here is the road so far.
The idea takes root
Conversations with families, teachers, and youth in Bujumbura shape a simple model: education, mentorship, community.
Officially registered
Youth Hope for Tomorrow becomes a registered non-profit under Act M/6108/2025, based in Bujumbura, Burundi.
First cohort supported
Our first students return to school with fees, supplies, and mentors — and our first volunteers step forward.
Growing the circle
Expanding programs, deepening rural reach, and building partnerships that let more young people rise.
Our Core Values
Five convictions, rooted in biblical principles, that shape how we lead, serve, and show up for the young people in our care.
Leadership
We lead by example on biblical principles — taking responsibility for outcomes and guiding others with clarity, accountability, and courage.
Discipline
We stay consistent in our commitments, systems, and ethics — even when conditions are difficult or no one is watching.
Service
We exist to meaningfully improve lives, putting the needs of the communities we serve above convenience or recognition.
Dignity & Respect
We treat every person as an equal, made in God's image — ensuring our actions preserve their voice, choice, and self-worth.
Excellence
We pursue the highest standard in everything we do, continually improving our work to ensure lasting, measurable impact.
A small team, a wide circle.
Staff, mentors, and volunteers who show up — week after week.
